The school was founded in 1976 by a group of families who wanted a secular education for their children, ranging in ages from 2 to 18, with a strong English-language component. It was to be an outward-looking school, where the pupils would develop into broad-minded adults with a global outlook.
While, essentially, this spirit lives on, new families in the cooperative and a changing social environment have brought about changes in the School's Educational Plan, which has been updated and improved over the years
The original model was based on the the founding members' wish to play an active role in the life of the school and the education of their children, a role they would share with the teachers. This still holds true today and is one of the most enduring aspects of the school founders' vision.
